Partaking of Communion

And from the bible in Mark 14:22-26 it reads~

22 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take it; this is my body.”

23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it.

24 “This is my blood of the[a] covenant, which is poured out for many,” he said to them. 25 “Truly I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”

26 When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Reverent

I have very fond memories of my dad preaching the gospel of Jesus dying on the cross and rising again! Of how reverent my dad was while he told us why we had communion. The bread is His body that was sacrificed on the cross and the juice is His blood He shed for our sins. If we have asked the Lord into our hearts we partake in eating the bread and drinking the juice. He would read the scriptures from his well worn bibles (see below) to all the congregation and we would remember Jesus sacrifice on the cross shedding His blood and His earthly body dying for each one of us and our sins. But, He arose from the dead, has His heavenly body and has prepared a place for each one of us that is saved! Hallelujah and Praise the Lord!!!

A few sentences back I said well worn bibles~ My dad had several bibles! He would get so excited to receive a new one or one that he found. He loved getting them at the bible book stores or to receive one as a gift from someone that had passed. He loved to write sermons and thoughts in his bibles, underlining and highlighting passages! I like to think maybe he was one of the first one’s to start doing this and that’s why people highlight and draw their artwork to the Lord in their own bibles 🙂
